11 Jan 2013

The Edge of Never
by J.A Redmerski
Publisher: Self-published
Release Date: November 15th, 2012
Format: Paperback, 426 pages

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

The Edge of Never can be described in one word; Beautiful. The story is truly beautiful. It has shown that everyone, even those who've given up on finding happiness; given up on life, will be able to find true love and the happiness they deserve. The Edge of Never has earned a place on my 'all time favourites' list, and even now, months after I first devoured this heartfelt read, I continue to read it over and over again :)

Camryn
The poor girl! At the start, Camryn was left with nothing; her life was the epitome of loneliness. Almost everyone she loves left her, starting off with the love of her life dying in a car accident. Her new boyfriend cheated on her; her dad left the whole family and then her brother was arrested and sent to prison. And the last straw? Her best friend's now refusing to speak to her because of an incident one night. It's easy to see why Camryn would decide to take some time away from life, breathe some fresh air and ponder exactly where to go and what to do from there. Camryn is easy to life; despite everything that happened, she never 'lost herself' .She has so much inner strength, and even at her nadir of existence, she was still selfless and considerate of those around her. She's definite of my of favourite New Adult MCs!

Enter Andrew...
Confident, laid-back, over 6 feet tall with a toned body covered with tattoos, he's easily a favourite among women. He's snarky, caring and like Camryn, is dealing with his own demons. No matter how much the two resisted falling for each other -and boy, did they try relentlessly- it was impossible.

" I think when you fall in love, like true love, it's love for life. All the rest is just experiences and delusions."

You'll be sure to love the interaction between the two; some of their dialogue are so humourous and fun :) I love how the two are able to help each other overcome everything that's been weighing them down. I think I'm starting to become obsessed with road trip books! It's such an easy way for two people to strengthen their relationship and understanding of each other and live in a world of their own, even for a little while.

I would highly recommend this book to everyone. It may not be original, but there's so much to gain from reading this. It gives us hope; a ray of hope that everyone will find happiness and their other half. It gives those who have abandoned their trust in love to rekindle this trust. It has been a while since I've read a book that's had such a profound impact on my emotions. Love, love, LOVE it!!<3

  9. I've heard so many good things about this book! It was first recommended to me by an author so I got the eBook but I haven't had a chance to read it yet. It's so long and reading on the computer is not ideal for me. I think I'll wait for the physical copy and buy it :D

It's great seeing self-published authors release great books.
